Why does my code keep coming back after it's cleared?

Clearing a code does not fix the cause. A returning code usually means a wiring, sensor or system issue still exists and needs testing.

Can you diagnose intermittent problems?

Yes, though they take more time. Notes on when it happens — hot, cold, over bumps, under load — help a lot.

Should I write down the codes before bringing it in?

Yes. Write down the codes and dash messages, and note when the problem happens — cold start, under load, at highway speed. That context often shortens the diagnostic time considerably.

We read codes, freeze-frame data and history, then compare what the module reports with what the truck is actually doing. Live data and service routines narrow it down; a meter, pressure gauge or smoke test confirms it. We would rather spend an hour proving a sensor wire is chafed than sell you a sensor that was never bad.

Basic code reads and some diagnostics can be done in the field with a laptop. Deeper testing, pinpoint wiring work and repairs are more efficient at the Glendive shop.
