Advanced Diagnostics in Glendive, MT

Not every problem needs another part thrown at it. Mondak Equipment uses advanced diagnostic software, electrical testing and system-level troubleshooting to find the fault before the repair starts. That means OEM-level and system-specific diagnostic coverage across multiple truck and equipment platforms — diagnostic platforms most independent shops do not keep under one roof, and more than a generic scan tool.

WHAT ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS MEANS

Diagnose the system, not just the code.

A fault code is a starting point, not the diagnosis. Advanced diagnostics means reading what the modules report, then proving it on the machine: checking the circuit, the signal, the pressure or the mechanical part the code points toward. The goal is one confirmed cause and one repair — not a sequence of guesses.

DIAGNOSTIC PLATFORMS

Software and hardware we work with.

  • Cummins INSITE
  • Detroit DiagnosticLink
  • PACCAR DAVIE4
  • International ServiceMaxx
  • Allison DOC
  • Bendix ACom
  • WABCO Toolbox
  • Mack diagnostic tooling
  • Scania diagnostic tooling
  • Nexiq interface hardware

Tool names identify the diagnostic software and hardware we use. They do not indicate dealer authorization or factory affiliation.

HANDS-ON TESTING

Where the software stops, the meter starts.

  • Voltage-drop testing under load
  • ECM power and ground verification
  • CAN / J1939 communication troubleshooting
  • Sensor signal testing
  • Wiring and connector fault tracing
  • Intermittent electrical problems
  • Pressure, temperature and flow verification when electronic data alone is not enough

WHAT WE SERVICE

Work tied to the actual fault.

  • Diesel engines
  • Automatic transmissions
  • ABS and air brake electronics
  • Aftertreatment: DPF, EGR, SCR and DEF
  • Vehicle networks: CAN and J1939
  • Charging, starting and ECM power
  • Sensors and actuators
  • Selected heavy-equipment electronic controls
  • Electrohydraulic control problems where electronic data and hydraulic testing overlap

COMMON NEEDS

  • Derate with multiple fault codes
  • Intermittent no-start
  • Module communication faults
  • Transmission shift or control complaints
  • ABS or brake warning faults
  • Aftertreatment that repeatedly fails regeneration
  • Engine runs poorly with no obvious mechanical failure
  • A function works one direction but not the other
  • Engine bogs when a hydraulic function is commanded
  • Voltage appears present but drops under load
  • Repeat failures after parts have already been replaced

THE MONDAK APPROACH

Diagnose first. Repair with purpose.

Why generic code reading is not enough: a trouble code tells you where the control system detected a problem. It does not automatically identify the failed part. A low-voltage code on a sensor can be the sensor, a chafed harness, a corroded connector or a weak ECM supply. Good diagnosis combines software data with wiring checks, pressure and flow measurements, voltage drop, mechanical inspection and functional testing — so the part that gets replaced is the part that actually failed.

Shop or mobile: many diagnostic problems can be evaluated in the field when the unit is down — a laptop, interface and meter go a long way. Deeper teardown or controlled testing may move to the Glendive shop. In the Dickinson area, a resident Mondak field technician and service truck handles field diagnosis locally.
